I last attended Albuquerque’s coin show back in the spring of last year and had a great time so I decided to go again this year. Last year I made the 6HR or so drive but this time I decided to fly since it was more convenient and about the same price in travel costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got to the airport Friday afternoon after work so I missed the first day of the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takeoff from PHX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We landed in Albuquerque after a 1hr flight. New Mexico is on mountain time so they are an hour ahead of us in the time zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since I was only staying a day, I decided to rent a car instead of taking Ubers. I actually got a good deal and only paid $36 with insurance since I’m a platinum member with Expedia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My rental car for 1 day, a 2024 Nissan Versa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after 7PM I checked into my hotel Friday night at The Querque Hotel — which actually was in the same parking lot as The Crowne Plaza Hotel, where the coin show was being held at. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had dinner at Gecko’s Bar & Tapas in the Nob Hill area of Albuquerque. Originally, I had planned to go to a different place but it was too busy — but I was happy with trying this New Mexico green chili chicken sandwich with green chili stew. Id rate this place 4\/5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After dinner, I hitup a local brewery in Nob Hill to try some New Mexico craft beer and then call it a night. Tractor Brewing Co was a cool and hip place and they had many different flavors of beer, including one that tasted like Oreo cookies. Interesting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day… Saturday 4\/12\/25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I checked out of my hotel shortly after 8AM and headed over to the coin show at The Crown Plaza. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the door entry of the show was a display of early Draped Bust silver dollars which was nice to view. These were not for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The coin show floor which had 4 rows of tables and dealers from all over the western US. Out of the 35 or so dealers I recognized just 3 from Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cool vintage 1948 slot machine for sale at the show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEWPS! I spent 4 hours at the show and almost filled up 2 PCGS boxes. Here are a few things I purchased..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A really nice 1859 Three Cent Silver certified PCGS VF35 that features a gorgeous rainbow tone. I plan on getting this one show-reholdered in 2 weeks at the Central States show in Illinois because it desperately needs a new holder and TrueView. The color is really nice in hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some PCGS\/CAC semi-key dates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one is cool, an album toned Barber Half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two nice Capped Bust Halves. The 1827 is a scarce Overton variety and is a pop 1 in VF30 with only 6 graded higher at PCGS. The 1834 is nicely toned, see next photo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one is really nice with color and luster in hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Two lowball grade coins I picked up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some rattlers…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some better date coins in higher than average grades…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I left the coin show shortly after 1PM and had a few hours to kill so I hitup a local coin store that was open. I purchased a few items from them, Including a nicely toned V nickel graded PCGS MS64 and a few other raw toned coins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I went and saw the Walter White house from the show Breaking Bad. Unfortunately the current owner repainted it and had it barricaded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I also went to Twisters, which was used as the filming location for Los Pollos Hermanos in the show Breaking Bad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inside was barely changed and still looks the same as it did in the show. It’s an actual fast food place and you can order food there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got back to the airport shortly after 4PM Saturday to head back home to Phoenix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

ABQ’s airport is small and doesn’t go many places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Overall I would rate the show an 8\/10 even after missing the first day. There was still many deals on coins and the dealers were very negotiable. I didn’t find anything too nice. There were a few coins I was looking at in the $500+ range but they were priced at retail. I had a good time and picked up a lot of new inventory for my store. I will be back again next year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
